Our principles for responsible AI on SecondBox: gift box recognition, suggested pricing and assisted verification.
1. Where AI is used
AI reads the photo of a box to detect the brand, title, original value and expiry date, then pre-fills the listing.
It also suggests a price based on the original value, competing supply and remaining validity.
2. Always human-controlled
No automated decision is final: the seller reviews and edits every field before publishing.
When the code or expiry date is unreadable, confidence is capped and the listing goes to human review.
3. Transparency
Every AI-generated result is labelled as such, with its confidence level.
The suggested price is only a suggestion: sellers set their own price.
4. Data and privacy
Uploaded photos are used only to analyse the listing and never to train models.
Processing relies on AI providers bound by contractual confidentiality commitments.
5. Limits and reporting
AI can be wrong on blurry photos, close variants or rare boxes.
